Ariana Papademetropoulos

Ariana Papademetropoulos (b. 1990, Los Angeles, California) lives and works in Los Angeles.

Her practice explores themes of mythology, femininity, and Jungian psychological archetypes. Papademetropoulos received her BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 2012 and continued her studies at the Universität der Künste in Berlin.

Drawing on historical references from medieval and Renaissance art, her work reimagines traditional iconography and symbolism through a contemporary lens. Her hyperreal, illusionistic style transforms everyday scenes into dreamlike compositions - spaces that feel like gateways to parallel worlds.

Her work is part of the permanent collections at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Marciano Art Foundation, Los Angeles; and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. In 2023, she debuted a film commissioned by the Musée du Louvre.
